Wellness Testing

Wellness Testing is a series of optional tests that our doctors recommend to all patients. These tests are used to detect subtle changes in your health. The basic “insurance” exam, while adequate for assessing general visual acuity, can miss vital information that could be necessary to spur important lifestyle and nutrition changes to protect your sight. Because Wellness Testing is considered preventative it is not covered by insurance, which is why we have created several affordable Wellness Packages for you!

Wellness I

Prevention and early diagnosis is key to protecting one’s vision. Our Wellness I testing series includes a series of scans, tests and imaging that offers our doctors more information about your vision and body health than a standard eye exam. These additional modern technologies include a Visual Field screening and high-resolution photography of the optic nerve and macula.
Our doctors use the information that these technologies produce to document and discover signs or progression of disease of the eye, brain, and visual system. We use this information to prevent disease and protect your health and your sight.

Wellness - Children’s Vision

High Myopia is often preventable, as are many behavioral and learning problems. Children’s Wellness Testing is recommended by our doctors to help assure any developmental anomalies eye coordination problems or risks or signs that could threaten normal development or predispose someone to very bad eyesight. It is the most thorough testing battery for kids!

Included in the Wellness II series is Corneal Mapping, which measures the curvature of the cornea and screens for Keratoconus. This test helps identify patients who might benefit from contact lenses in the future. Also included in the Children’s Vision Package is retinal imaging that detects Blue Light damage as a result of excessive screen time, and the King Devick Test (KDT or DEM ratio), which is considered the “gold standard” baseline for motor control, reading development and in the event of brain injury or concussion in student athletes!
