Recognition of Community Needs
"I love to teach as much as I love to learn."
— Dr. George J. Brown, CEO
Vision Care at the Brown Center actively participates with Vision NC (formerly Vision USA), an organization that serves those who are less fortunate in our community. We also give back to the local East Providence, Seekonk and surrounding area communities through volunteer organizations such as the Rotary, Little League, the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Boys and Girls Club, and Senior Services.
The Brown Center is committed to investing in students both locally and regionally. We sponsor the following scholarships:
LADO Latino Dollars for Scholars of Rhode Island
For deserving Latino students in Rhode Island.
East Providence Citizens Scholarship Dollars for Scholars
For an East Providence resident who majors in a science or health care related field.
The Brown Family Scholarship
Established in 2013 in memory of their Dad, the Brown brothers sponsor a scholarship for an EPHS Alumni who earned a Varsity Letter in Wrestling and attends a college or university.
New England College of Optometry Scholarship – $500
MCPHS School of Optometry Worcester – $500
Dr. Brown believes that advancing technology and education and technology are key in a successful healthcare practice. In addition to funding numerous local scholarships, Dr. Brown also sponsors clinical externs who have the dream to run their own practice someday as well as tirelessly devoting hours and hours to the education of teachers, parents, and community leaders as to the importance of quality vision care.
