George J. Brown, O.D.
Dr. Brown is a recognized leader in the field of eye care. He has an enthusiastic, warm and friendly manner with people of all ages. In addition to complicated contact lens care, he has an extensive background in pediatrics and vision therapy. Dr. Brown has been a clinical investigator for treatments of dry eye, and computer vision syndrome. He also has much experience in the treatment of eye emergencies and eye diseases. Dr. Brown is a 1986 graduate, with honors, from The New England College of Optometry. Following graduation, he served a one-year Fellowship, specializing in eye disease at the Omnivision Center. He is a former recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Contact Lens Award. His undergraduate Degree is in Physics from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Brown has been an active member of our community and in the local optometric association where he served as President in the 1999/2000 year.David J. Santos, O.D.
Dr. Santos is a 1991 graduate of the State University College of Optometry in New York. SUNY is recognized as the leading university in the world in the treatment of eye coordination and eye alignment dysfunctions. In addition to having been a cancer researcher at Roger Williams Medical Center, Dr. Santos has been very active in testing new contact lens designs.
Dr. Santos is well known for his kind and patient demeanor. His knowledge of eye disease and learning-related anomalies is unparalleled. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and has traveled extensively in Europe and Central America.
Robert W. Hill, O.D.

Dr. Hill is a 2002 graduate of New England College of Optometry and has been part of our team since June 2002. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Providence College in 1998, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He also was a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the premedical honor society.
While at New England College of Optometry Dr. Hill was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the international optometric honor society and VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity). He received advanced eye disease training at the VA Hospitals in Providence, RI and Bedford, MA, and studied contact lenses and corneal reshaping under Dr. Marjorie Rah, an internationally recognized leader in contact lenses. Dr. Hill has authored a paper on anti-angiogenesis drugs and the eye.
Dr. Hill excels in the areas of specialty contact lens fitting, including multifocal contact lenses, eye disease, and pediatric vision. He lives in Riverside with his wife Melanie and belongs to the East Providence Lions Club and a local chapter of BNI (Business Networking International).
Alison Loranger, O.D.
Dr. Loranger is a specialty trained Optometry doctor with an interest in family practice, diabetic vision care, and pediatrics. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr Loranger earned her Optometry Degree from the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, and received the honor of membership in Beta Sigma Kappa, the International Honor Society.
Dr. Loranger’s practice focuses largely on primary eye care with a passion for pediatric and family vision care. She excels at treatment of eye emergencies and has advanced training in the care and management of patients with diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and dry eye. She has extensive experience in contact lens care. Including patients with astigmatism and those requiring multi-focal lenses. Patients, both new and returning, appreciate not only her clinical skill, but her compassion and gentle nature as well.
Meghan Lambert, O.D.
Dr. Meghan Lambert is a 2008 graduate with honors from the University of California Berkley School of Optometry. She received her Bachelors of Science from James Madison University Summa Cum Laude. As a hospital-trained optometry doctor, Dr. Lambert has experience in treating glaucoma and corneal disease. She also has advanced training in specialty contact lens fits and corneal diseases. Her experience treating eye emergencies and managing a wide variety of eye diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive eye disease helps put her patients at ease. She resides on the East Side of Providence and delivers much energy in the way of public health service, vision screenings and glaucoma screenings to our community.
Our Office Staff:
Melina Buteau, Practice Manager
Melina joined our practice in November 2007. Throughout her time at the Brown Center, she has become proficient in all areas of our practice including the front desk, optical, and technician duties. She has an important role in the business side of our company, helping with data analysis and system design. Although she wears many different hats in the company, her favorite part of her job is helping to make a difference in peoples lives.
Melina has an A.S. in Business Management and is working towards her B.S. in Management at Rhode Island College.
Lelia Braga, Finance Manager
A longtime patient of the practice, Lelia joined our team in 1996. She has filled many duties from patient care coordinator to technician and optical assistant. Her behind the scenes work is a big part of our success. Lelia is a kind and considerate person who takes care of the financial parts of our business. She is fluent in Portuguese.
Natalie Milano, CPOT Clinic Manager
Natalie manages the medical side of our practice, as well as our optometric student externship program and all community outreach events.
Natalie is the organizing force behind the Rhode Island Paraoptometric Association, and is on the Marketing Committee of the AOA’s Commission on Paraoptometric Certification. She also attends URI full time.
